January 2013: Newsletter
A very warm welcome, first of all to our 'newbies', receiving our newsletter for the first time, probably as a result of recent advertising (so if you are receiving this and you don't want any more please do let us know and we will remove you from the list). To introduce this letter briefly for their sake its a way of bringing you all up to date with recent events here, catch reports, that sort of thing and it goes out monthly through the summer season.
So for this month, the first for this year, we are well underway on the tiling of the shower block floor thanks to a couple of French anglers who volunteered to work in exchange for some fishing. This started a few weeks ago but due to sub-zero temperatures work was stopped but hopefully it will be resumed this weekend and finished before Willem and Peter arrive mid March when the season gets going for us here. We still have the swims to recover with woodchips and some minor repairs to do, so with a bit of luck the rain will soon stop so we can get on with it. It has been a fairly mild winter for our region, only a few snowy days but lots of rain so that has stopped us doing many things around the lake. The weekend is forecast warm and sunny so we hope that it is the start of some dry spells so we can get stuck in.
A new laminate floor is scheduled for the chalet lounge, work on that starts next week and the redecoration of the 2nd bedroom. We are also having a new system fitted to the satellite dishes so we will be able to receive free TV in English, French and German so everyone will be able to watch TV in their own language (except the Dutch, sorry guys but you don't have any free channels!). That will mean that poor Dan will not have to scramble on the roof anymore to re-orientate the satellite dish!
So as to availability, there is little left in the chalet for 2013, the odd week here and there but we are accepting bookings for 2014 to be sure you get the week you want. Around the lake there are still spaces for 2013 so do give us a ring to check if the week you want is still open. I, for one, am very much looking forward to meeting all the puppies that you have sent us photos of, so do make sure you bring them but check you cars before you go home to make sure I have not adopted it!
On a sad note, we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Monique after the tragic death of John last Saturday. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with her and their family.
So we wish everyone a very good season 2013, we wont be at any of the shows this year, logistically its very difficult for us to be there, but we will look forward to seeing you all throughout the year.
Our very best wishes
